Weddings
Nearly all quatrains that pertain to marriages mention screams, shouts or cries. It is a custom though during Arab weddings to scream and fire guns.
10.52 Mariage
"At the place where the Lys and the Scheldt unite,"
The nuptials will be arranged for a long time:
"At the place in Antwerp where they carry the chaff,"
Young old age wife undefiled.
A6705 Mariage
The father approaches the son; Magistrate said to be severe,
The great marriage, enemies garbelans (?)
Put to the front by the Latins, for the improper faith,
The good friends and wives against such groumelans (?)
10.55 Mariage
The unfortunate nuptials will be celebrated
In great joy but the end unhappy:
"Husband and mother will slight the daughter-in-law,"
The Apollo dead and the daughter-in-law more pitiful.
A6512 Mariage, joy
Heavy frost, ice more than satisfying,
Widowed mothers, fire, deplored,
Games, debates, joy, March will celebrate discord,
Through marriages good expectation.
A6112 Epithalame (poetry told during a wedding)
Hot winds, advise, cries and timidity
At night at bet assaulted while unarmed,
Through oppression great calamity,
The nuptial poem converted in cries and tears.
