The first has to do with the discovery of an archaeological treasure, a temple with ancient secrets. It would concern Saint Peter sepulchre, revelations about the Catholic Church, a Celtic cult place, maybe writings of Nostradamus, a crown legitimacy issue that concerns an unidentified country (France, Spain or England) and the holy grail ... As a result of the discovery, some catastrophes are to be expected.
The second has to do with a religion. The Vestals will play a role in a new religion inspired by the Romans or something of the sort.
The criteria for regrouping the quatrains are based on some identified keywords and logic.
Vestals and/or temples - archeological site, Great Roman
"The Vestals were Roman female priests. Nostradamus brings them back to life 1200 years later. The term "Vestal" could cover a coded language."
2.17 Temple, Virgin, vestal, Pyrenees
"The field of the temple of the vestal virgin,"
Not far from Elne and the Pyrenees mountains:
The great tube is hidden in the trunk.
To the north rivers overflown and vines battered.
9.9 Temple, vestal, lamp
When the lamp burning with inextinguishable fire
Will be found in the temple of the Vestals:
"Child found in fire, water passing through the sieve:"
"To perish in water N¯mes, Toulouse the markets to fall."
5.66 Vestal buildings, aqueduct, lamp
"Under the ancient vestal edifices,"
Not far from the ruined aqueduct:
"The glittering metals are of the Sun and Moon,"
The lamp of Trajan engraved with gold burning.
10.6 Link between Vesta scepulchre and fire, flood
The Gardon will flood N¯mes so high
That they will believe Deucalion reborn:
"Into the colossus the greater part will flee,"
Vesta tomb fire to appear extinguished.
8.6 Brightness and lighting, London, Sardon, Marius
"Lighting and brightness are seen at Lyons shining,"
"Malta is taken, suddenly it will be extinguished."
"Sardon, Maurice will act deceitfully,"
"Geneva to London, feigning treason towards the cock."
2.96 Burning torch
Burning torch will be seen in the sky at night
Near the end and beginning of the Rhone:
"Famine, steel: the relief provided late,"
Persia turns to invade Macedonia.
8.78 Sancturary rather than a temple
A soldier of fortune with twisted tongue
will come to the sanctuary of the gods.
He will open the door to heretics
and raise up the Church militant.

Seems to refer to Templars (crusaders). One protagonist assimilated to a Templar seems to speak too much. Bragamas reminds of an Hindu setting.

8.78
Templiers. Bragamas rappelle un contexte Hindou.
8.45 Easter, reference to teh temple, would concern the shaking
"With his hand in a sling and his leg bandaged,"
the younger brother of Calais will reach far.
"At the word of the watch, the death will be delayed,"
then he will bleed at Easter in the Temple.
4.35 Virgins, Corsica and maybe Scotland
The fire put out the virgins will betray
The greater part of the new band:
Lightning in sword and lance the lone Kings will guard
"Etruria and Corsica, by night throat cut."
A5707 Virgin
The hero (or the river Herault) wandering from dog (or trigger) to lion turn

A5909 Virgins
Virgins and widows, your good times approach,
It will not consist in what is pretended,
Far will it be from a new approach,
Easily taken, easier taken back, the worst it will stay.
Vestals, facts having to do with a religion
These few quatrains indicate the existence of a temple of Vestals, which in turn refers to a new religion for the future centered on the Romans antique cult.
A6110 Vestals
Grey, white and black, in smoked and wear
Will be put, halves, put in their seats,
The kidnappers will be mocked:
And the Vestals tightened in hard fights.
4.95 Vestals
"The realm left to two they will hold it very briefly,"
Three years and seven months passed by they will make war:
"The two Vestals will rebel in opposition,"
Victor the younger in the land of Brittany.
H109 The meaning of vestal seems different here
for the last time. All the Kingdoms of Christianity will tremble, even those of the infidels, for the space of twenty-five years. Wars and battles will be more grievous and towns, cities, castles and all other edifices will be burned, desolated and destroyed, with great effusion of vestal blood, violations of married woman and widows, and sucking children dashed and broken against the walls of towns. By means of Satan, Prince Infernal, so may evils will be committed that nearly all the world will find itself undone and desolated.
Candles, columns
To burn a candle and to erect a column for someone's glory may proceed from a same symbolic hope to join the celestial and lower worlds. The described candlestick could then refer to the Saint Peter column - i.e. Trojan's prior to the year 1588 - which undergrounds held his gold funerary urn until the year 406. Many similar columns are visible throughout the world, but most of them were built in the 19th Century.

8.5 "Candle, Cock in the coffin (Fr. to mean ruined presumably), gold, temple, lamp
"There will appear a shining ornate temple,"
the lamp and the candle at Borne and Breteuil.
"For the canton of Lucerne turned aside,"
when one will see the great cock in his shroud.
3.61 Sects, river, Mesopotamia, Crusader (Fr.: crucigère which may also have to do with a candle) - link with Virgins, candles, Cross
The great band and sect of crusaders
Will be arrayed in Mesopotamia:
"Light company of the nearby river,"
That such law will hold for an enemy.

When the great wooden columns tremble
"in the south wind, covered with blood."
Such a great assembly then pours forth
that Vienna and the land of Austria will tremble.
5.66 Great Roman
"Under the ancient vestal edifices,"
Not far from the ruined aqueduct:
"The glittering metals are of the Sun and Moon,"
The lamp of Trajan engraved with gold burning.

In Rome, the remains of the emperor Trojan would still be under his Column or the Temple of Vestals. Some excavations that have been under way for 105 years in the area have not yet revealed anything of the such.

5.66
Les restes de l'empereur Trajan seraient toujours sous sa colonne à Rome. Cela fait plus d'un siècle que des fouilles sont en cours, mais la ville antique recèle toujours de secrets.
10.64 Column in Rome
"Weep Milan, weep Lucca and Florence,"
As your great Duke climbs into the chariot:
"The see to change it advances to near Venice,"
When at Rome the Colonna will change.
Virgins, temple & sex
(See also Candles and columns)
The French word "cierge", which means "candlestick", and "vierge", meaning "virgin" thus referring to the Virgin Mother, seem to be mixed up. The author conveyed a message that was to be concealed from the Catholic church of his times.
3.44 Virgin
When the animal domesticated by man
After great pains and leaps will come to speak:
"The lightning to the virgin will be very harmful,"
Taken from earth and suspended in the air.
3.72 Great River, Ransom gold, very old person - maybe death of the pope JPII during the shaking
"The good old man buried quite alive,"
Near the great river through false suspicion:
"The new old man ennobled by riches,"
Captured on the road all his gold for ransom.

A5707 Virgin, Time hint
The hero (or the river Herault) wandering from dog (or trigger) to lion turn
Town burning in fire, pillage, newly taken,
Discover clothes, prince taken, then return,
Explor. Taken Gall. The Great jointed by virgin.

Probably not the explorators, the "pucelle" in France usually refers to Jane of Arc.
2.17 Temple, Virgin, vestal, Pyrenees
"The field of the temple of the vestal virgin,"
Not far from Elne and the Pyrenees mountains:
The great tube is hidden in the trunk.
To the north rivers overflown and vines battered.

The "camp of the Vestal Virgin" must point to Rome. Ethne could point to Greece - the Pyrenees have nothing to do with the long pathway. But in a symbolic language, the camp of the Vestal Virgin could refer to the Catholics as opposed to Protestants - these were the real preoccupations of the 16th Century at the time of Nostradamus, and it is hard to imagine that he used the term Virgin without thinking at some point to the Virgin Mary.
