The Final Conflict

These Times and Regions refer to the World War 3, to be engraved in history as the Final Conflict and expected to set ablaze the whole of humanity. Nostradamus states that this conflict will last 27 years and involve a very cruel character from Persia (Iran) as well as the powers of "Aquilon" ("an Atlantic westbound wind"). There will be some persecutions of Christians like never before in history while the war will in many ways remind of the crusades. This conflict will seal the becoming of human kind.

However, the quatrains do not reveal their secrets at the first reading and a good deal of analysis and guess work is required. Many parts of the text remind of the Bible and other religions. For example, Nostradamus mentions the infernal powers of "Dog and Doham" in his Epistle to Henry. To invert the letters of these two words gives "God and Mahod", referring to Gog in the East (three letters word "Est" in French ) and MaGog in the West (four letters "OuEst"). The "live" kingdom of light and sunrise will clash with the "evil" powers of darkness and sunset. Some similar prophecies exist in the Mayan, Apache, Celtic, Islamic as well as Hindu religions and probably many more.

The seer often refers to a "Gros Mastin" (Fr.). This 16th Century French term holds the double meaning of a "barking watchdog" and "great morning". He uses it in turn to designate the evil spirit of a beast and the infernal powers of an irrupting volcano. It is the key to identify and name one of the two final days empires, Gog or Magog, which he also refers to as the "Great Dog". It would be the "Great Morning" country of China.

The very cruel persecutor of the Christian religion he describes is similar to the Antichrist that Saint John divulges in his book of Revelations. Under his leadership, the oriental kings will cross the Euphrates River from Iran into Iraq during a period of drought and shallow waters. President Bush's preventive attack against terrorism may have opened the door for some further invasions. His father had passed the message to the world that any offensive in the region would be persuasively dealt with. Now, the new message is that this does not to stand for everyone, thus creating a feeling of spite. In addition, for many world leaders, and not just tyrants, his interest in oil blurs any pretended struggle for democracy and stability in the Middle East region. The next years history will clarify this.

Other quatrains evoke the Israeli-Palestinian war as extensively described by a great number of prophets of the Old Testament. Just alike, Nostradamus refers to the powers of the North (Fr. Septentrion) and the South (Fr. Midy). The Eastern and Western alliances will clash along a North-South line in the Middle East until the final battle of Armageddon.
