The Times and Regions of this section pertain to the future and history of Africa, the Middle East and Far East Asia. Nostradamus felt less concern for these regions than he did for the part of the World he lived in, Christian Europe. Our analysis is not limited to some simple geographic considerations. It includes the aspects of wars, power and politics thoughout the ages. We also attempt to identify some of the protagonists, dates of the prophecies still to come.

An initial quatrains analysis reveals that the crusades, still fresh in the 16th century minds, will repeat. They will consist in a global planetary conflict that will oppose the East and the West and seal the becoming of mankind. After the events of Babylonia will come those of Greece, Egypt, Sudan, Persia and Israel - in this order or another one.

The East-West war may have already started. In his book published in 1983, the interpreter Jean de Fontbrune had already announced a frontal clash between Moslems and Christians. At the time, his contentions did not gather the attention it deserved while most people were too busy with the cold war issues. Since then, Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein have awoken the Western ancestral and long forgotten fears of two worlds relentlesslly radicalizing that could lead to the Final Conflict.

The seer states another important point that deals with Asia and Africa. He mentions some social disorders in relation with the Arab tongue decreed in France. This is only a foreseeable future for a population that is at this point already 15% Moslem. The French have deserted the church and adopted a new set of atheist values essentially based on state welfare maximization, individual laziness, cheating and sexual perversion. With less than 10% of faithful Christians left, we can expect the Sunnite or Shiite branch of Islam to rule the country before the end of the Century. In addition, considering the two conflicting forces at stake, it may come as a blessing in the end, except of course for women's rights.

The time of the writing of the Centuries, 1555-58, corresponds to the period of American, African and Asian new territories explorations. One sentence, while announcing the French revolution in 1792, points out the 16th Century layman underlying racist views:

"There will be greater persecutions to the Churches than ever before, even in Africa."

The rumor spread the idea that a bunch of savage cannibals populated Africa. However, the major point here is to investigate Nostradamus' point of view on occult practices. A contemporary seer, expert in African sorcery, explains that he can read in the Centuries the evidence that the author received an initiation to the West African practice of human sacrifice.
